- What
is a domain name transfer?
If you already have a domain name, it is very
likely that your domain name is registered with
some other Registrar, such as Network Solutions
and you are most likely paying $35 to renew your
domain every year. If you transfer your domain to
Suresurv.com, who is a competitor of
Network Solutions, you will enjoy significant
savings on your domain name renewal, since it will
cost you only $20 - not $35 to renew your domain
name. Transferring your domain to us means that
your domain will be moved from your existing
registrar to Suresurv.com

- What does the $20.00
cover when I transfer my domain from other
registrar?
to do a look up on a domain name that you own
(type in the domain only - without www - example
yourdomain.com ) In the domain name record, you
will find a line that says: Record expires on
(date)
By transferring the domain name to our registrar
for $20.00, that expiration date will be
automatically extended by one more year.

- How long does it
take to transfer my domain?
Transfer completion usually takes several days.
The transfer application is initially reviewed by
OpenSRS (about 1-2 business days). Some
reasons transfer may not be completed are:
- DOMAIN NAME IS
NOT YET 60 DAYS OLD
- DOMAIN NAME IS
ON HOLD BY A CURRENT REGISTRAR
- FOR NON PAYMENT
- DOMAIN NAME HOLD
/ IN DISPUTE PROCEEDINGS.
Once Domain Transfer
approved by OpenSRS, your Registrar is responsible
for the actual transfer. They may take anywhere
from one day to several days, depending on their
current procedures. If you check on your domain
transfer in about one week from your transfer
application, it should show one additional year
added to the original expiration date, which is
one way of telling your transfer is now completed
and you may start using your control panel.

- Am I transferring
my hosting as well?
No, everything on your domain name record will
remain the same, including your current hosting
company, DNS records, etc. The only items that will
change are: expiration date will be extended by
one year and registrar will become OpenSRS/Tucows.
If you want to
move to another hosting company, or update your
domain name records, you will be able to make
changes to your domain name by using our
management interface at: http://www.suresurv.com/cgi-bin/manage.cgi.
You will need your domain's username
and password to make the desired changes.

- Can you give me
step by step description of what happens when I
transfer my domain?
- The first step
is to see if your domain name is available for
transfer here.
- Once you have
completed the domain transfer form, you will receive
2 emails:
One e-mail
from Suresurv.com, confirming we have
processed your application. A second e-mail
from OpenSRS/Tucows will give you
special instructions for completing the
transfer. You must complete the steps outlined
in this e-mail or your transfer will not take
place.
This second e-mail is sent to the administrative contact
e-mail address contained in the domain name record. Be sure to
check your domain name record and verify
that the e-mail address for the Administrative
contact is valid, current
and yours!
If the administrative
contact email address is not yours,
either have the person change it to yours or make sure they will cooperate
with you in the approval process.

here to check your domain record now.
- Once your domain
transfer is complete, the Registrar is
responsible for transferring your domain. The
actual transfer may take anywhere from one to
several days, depending on their current
procedures.
Top
- What should I
do first before I apply for my domain name
transfer?
Make sure that email address on your current
domain record is correct. One of the most
common reasons for domain transfer to fail, is
old or incorrect email address on
administrative contact of your domain name
with the current registrar. Please see above
paragraph for complete details.
